He is wicked smart.

I have watched numerous of his videos in the past and just listening to him talk you can tell he is extremely intelligent. He looks at things and does his own analysis. His book Black Swan is considered one of the most influential books in the last 100 years.

His investment fund had a 4,000% return in March. His main premise is to look at things on a risk basis.

So much of the stuff he says makes so much sense.....like when people ask him about risk in 2015 he said:

"When people ask me to talk about RISK, I talk about epidemics. Not ISIS, not journalistic BS."

Yet the sacred cow the military gets billions but preparations for epidemics get millions. Well we already dropped the ball on that one.

If he tells me something being presented is mathematically incorrect.....then I believe it.

You should follow him...you will get a different perspective of things. You may not like them or understand them. I am very mathematical and I dont understand his equations but at the end of the day....I would side with his analysis over other so called experts.

Taleb is OK, like most leading intellectuals, his beliefs/opinions never get challenged so there is no real steelmanning taking place. And he intentionally keeps some things very vague and philosophical so you can never nail him down on anything (a pandemic in itself nowadays)

Black Swan was a very good read though
